(This Field Trip happened on March 17, 2016. NOT TODAY.) So yesterday's field trip was the best field trip ever! we went to the Challenger Learning Center in Hammond, Indiana. It was a place were you could learn about space exploration, build rockets, and finally, work IN a Space ship (Orbiter) to try to find the Comet Enke. You can also work at Mission Control back on Earth. It was a real-life astronaut simulator! First of all , I got to work main job of Communications on the Orbiter. To get on the Orbiter you have to go in an Airlock elevator where the walls actually move! No protection, no nothing! I was the one who managed all the messages back to Mission Control. For example, If the person in Isolation wanted to contact the other person working on Isolation back on Earth, they have to send it to me first. If it included numbers or an image, I had to forward it. But, If it wasn't, get this, YOU GET TO TELL THEM BY HEADSET ON THE INTERCOM IN MISSION CONTROL. Now that's awesome! After doing that for about an hour, we got to trade areas, I got to work in Mission Control. It was the exact same job, just communicating to the Orbiter instead. After doing that for another hour, It was time for lunch. I ate a Smoked Ham sandwich, some Doritos, Raisins, and a Caramel and a Hugs (Kindly packed by my Grandma.). Also it had a gift shop, and my grandma also gave me $5 to pay for that. I got 2 blue and pink cups and a star shaped pencil sharpener (Shown below). I will update later!
